No brief for this incident yet. We write one for every open incident and every critical bug exploited before a fix.

Affected products

  • Linux kernel 2.6.12 up to 4.19.324, 5.4.286, 5.10.230, 5.15.173, 6.1.119, 6.6.63, 6.11.10, 6.12.1 (ALSA usb-audio)
How we built this timeline

Kernel moment model: vendor/world = the kernel CNA's CVE publication (first security-labelled public signal); First fix = first stable or mainline release containing the fix (R2: counts even though it precedes the CVE);

Fixed for all versions = the last of the stable/LTS releases the CVE record lists as fixed, provided every then-supported affected line is listed (R6). Release dates come from the kernel.org ChangeLog files (the 'Linux <version>' release commit).

Downstream lag (Android, distributions) is not graded here. Split from linux-kernel-cve-2024-53104 in the 23 Oct 2026 correction pass (R7: disclosed more than 14 days after CVE-2024-53104).

Amnesty International (28 Feb 2025) says Google researchers identified 'at least three zero-day vulnerabilities likely exploited as part of this Cellebrite exploit chain' (CVE-2024-53104, CVE-2024-53197, CVE-2024-50302) and that it 'first found traces of this Cellebrite USB exploit used in a separate case in mid-2024'. exploited before a fix=true (R4): exploitation began in mid-2024, before the December 2024 fixes; it was made public only afterwards (Android's 1 Apr 2025 bulletin lists CVE-2024-53150 and CVE-2024-53197 as 'under limited, targeted exploitation'), so exposure is zero. CVSS 7.8 is the CISA-ADP score; the kernel CNA gave none.
