No brief for this incident yet. We write one for every open incident and every critical bug exploited before a fix.

  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Forms on JEE 6.5.23.0 and earlier
How we built this timeline

Selected as a patch-day exception: details and proof-of-concept became public (29 Jul 2025) a week before Adobe's out-of-band fix (5 Aug 2025), so 'disclosed and fixed in the same release' would hide a 7-day exposure. Reported to Adobe on 28 Apr 2025 per Searchlight's timeline.

Exploitation came later: CISA added CVE-2025-54253 to KEV on 15 Oct 2025; Adobe's bulletin (capture of 21 Oct 2025) still says 'Adobe is not aware of these issues being exploited in the wild.' Grouping: CVE-2025-54254 (XXE, CVSS 8.6) is in the same bulletin; only 54253 is in KEV.

A third bug from the same report, CVE-2025-49533, was patched earlier and is not part of this incident. CVSS 10.0 from Adobe. helpx.adobe.com returns 403 to non-browser user agents, so a Wayback capture is cited.

R1 check (correction pass 23 Oct 2026): this file matched 'bypass' only because of the bug type ('authentication bypass to RCE chain'). Adobe has not described the 5 Aug 2025 fix as incomplete: the bulletin's Wayback captures of 21 Oct 2025 and 21 Sep 2026 still list 6.5.0-0108 as the fixed version, with no later bulletin or revision for these CVEs, so First fix stays 5 Aug 2025.
